It seems that:
- some people are optimizing TAP files with TAPClean even when those files contain read errors, and
- some other people who get optimized TAP files assume them to be free of errors
Therefore I am going to stop this madness and the ongoing pollution in the TAP world: TAPClean will only allow users to optimize TAP files that do not contain read errors.
For somebody as myself, focused on data integrity checking and preservation, the “optimization” of a TAP file is not essential: being sent an optimized TAP file in order for me to gather any sort of information from it is actually an insult to which I will reply with insults.
