DC2N2 firmware updates and another build finished

After work yesterday I managed to finish a number of updates to the DC2N2 firmware and complete the build of another prototype, which is looking very good indeed.

I haven’t done significant changes to the DC2N2 firmware since January 2014 but I really felt like aligning it to the DC2N5 firmware so here I am doing so🙂

So far I re-tested Tape dumping, TAP v1 Playback and Recoding of a file from the C64.

Here’s a snapshot of the stream in a recorded file:

One might argue that DC2N5-LC obsoleted DC2N2. That is partly true, but DC2N2 comes with self-update capabilities: Firmware updates are taken in from the micro SD card at boot time in DC2N2. Besides, I don’t plan providing more than a handful DC2N2s, which might boost their value in a few years. I won’t be the beneficiary of the value increase as I plan to get these little cool devices out to users sometime soon🙂
